Tianna Tarter is enrolled in ETSU’s Sport and Leisure Management program and is on track to graduate this spring.

Character

Tarter is a leader on and off the court. She’s always been a great teammate and a true team leader. She’s been one of the most high-impact signees in ETSU women’s basketball history. As a hometown talent and the team’s leading point guard, Tarter never let her success take over. She has always been very humble and has set a true example for the underclassmen.

Community

Tarter has volunteered with many of the women’s basketball team community service events. She helped set up youth Olympic events and was an instructor and group leader at the Boys and Girls Club. During move-in day, she assisted freshman as they moved into their dorms. Tarter read to elementary children at the Central Elementary School and also bagged items at Food City for the United Way.

Competition

Tarter was a 2016-17 Preseason All-SoCon selection, a first-team All-SoCon Tournament Team selection and a unanimous first-team All-SoCon honoree. She was the first SoCon player since 2007 to have at least five Player of the Year awards and the first ETSU player to win five SoCon Player of the Week awards in a season. Tarter became the 23rd member of ETSU’s 1,000-point club and became the first ETSU player since 2010 to score 500 points in a single season. In 2016-17, she scored 595 points (6th at ETSU), 450 field goal attempts (4th at ETSU), 154 free-throws made (2nd at ETSU/11th in single-season SoCon), 207 free-throw attempts (2nd at ETSU), 143 assists (6th at ETSU), 67 steals (11th at ETSU), and 19.8 points per game (10th at ETSU). During her sophomore year, Tarter was a Preseason All-SoCon selection, a College sports Madness Preseason All-SoCon honoree, a first-team All-SoCon pick, and won two SoCon Player of the Week awards. As a freshman, Tarter was named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team and was a first-team All-SoCon Tournament selection.
