Edwards maintains a 3.40 GPA as a finance major. He is a two-time selection to the MAAC All-Academic Team (2013, 2014).

Character

Edwards is a two-time team captain for the Golden Griffins and has been a leader since his first season at Canisius. As a rookie, Edwards netted the game-winning goal in the MAAC Championship against Siena with just 1:46 remaining, helping lead the Griffs to the program’s second conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance. He also fought through a shoulder injury his entire junior year—one that would eventually require surgery—to lead the team in points, assists, ground balls and face-off percentage.

Community

One of the top face-off specialists in the country, Edwards worked with Face-Off Factory, traveling across the country to teach youth high school players how to take face-offs. He also was a volunteer coach for CNY Arrows during the summer of 2013 in addition to volunteering his time in the Buffalo area at St. Luke’s Soup Kitchen and working with Meals on Wheels.

Competition

Edwards is one of the top players in the program’s history. Twice he has been named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List (2013, 2014). He was also honored as the 2012 MAAC Rookie of the Year and is a three-time All-MAAC selection (first-team honoree in 2013 and 2014). He enters his senior season ranked 14th in school history with 115 career points and eighth with 67 career assists (just 28 shy of the school record). During the 2014 campaign, Edwards led Canisius in points (44), assists (29), ground balls (83) and face-off percentage (.611). He ranked eighth nationally with his .611 face-off percentage and was the only face-off specialist in the country with more than 15 points. He also placed 14th nationally with 1.93 assists per game and 29th with 5.53 ground balls per game. In January, Edwards became the second Griff to be selected in the Major League Lacrosse Draft when he was taken 41st by the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
