Travis Walsh is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. Walsh was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar (3.7 GPA or higher for the year) as a sophomore. He interned at Jackson National Life in the finance office prior to his junior season. Walsh currently has a 3.59 cumulative GPA.

Character

Walsh is in his second season as an alternate captain. He is always one to step up and say something when needed in the locker room.

Community

Walsh has worked with a number of team service initiatives. These include Accessible Trick-or-Treating, which is trick-or-treating with disabled children); the MSU student-athlete food drive, in which they collect food at the houses of local residents and then deliver to those in need; and Teams for Toys through which they purchase, wrap and deliver toys at Christmastime.

Competition

Walsh was a second-team All-Big Ten selection as a junior. He was voted the winner of the Dr. John Downs Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year award as a junior. As a junior, his 14 points (2g, 12a) were a career high, leading all MSU defensemen and ranking fifth among Big Ten blueliners. He currently leads the nation in total blocked shots and blocks per game average.
