Trevon Bluiett

Classroom

Trevon Bluiett is on target to graduate in May of 2018. He turned down the opportunity to pursue his NBA dream to play a fourth season and receive his college degree from Xavier.

Character

Bluiett represents himself and his school very well on the court, in the media and with fans. Although he is not perfect and has made a mistake or two, it’s clear that his character is focused on the right things. His parents were both U.S. Marines.

Community

Bluiett has gotten involved individually and with teammates in a variety of community outreach opportunities including the annual Buddy Walk for the Down Syndrome Association of Cincinnati, the Tri-Health Interact Camp, Mount Notre Dame Kids event and the Junior Musketeer Clinic. He also has volunteered at a local church.

Competition

Bluiett, who, at nomination time, was third in the BIG EAST in scoring at over 21 ppg. for the No. 10 team in the country, is on target to finish with over 2,000 points and pass David West (2003 Senior CLASS Award winner and NBA veteran) on XU’s all-time scoring list. He has led XU to three NCAA Tournaments (2017 Elite 8, 2016 2nd Round, 2015 Sweet 16). He was a member of the 2017 NCAA All-West Regional Team and has been a two-time first-team All-BIG EAST Conference (2017 & 2016) and two-time All-BIG EAST Tournament (2017- & 2016) honoree.

Bluiett was a 2015-16 USA Today third-team All-American and earned a spot this season on the Las Vegas Invitational All-Tournament Team and the 2017-18 Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team. He is on the 2017-18 watch lists for the John R. Wooden Award, Naismith Trophy, Oscar Robertson Trophy, Julius Erving Award and Lute Olson Award (CollegeInsider.com’s National Player of the Year). His 2017-18 preseason All-America honors includes second-team honors from Sporting News, NBC Sports and Athlon Sports and third team honors from ESPN, CBS Sports, Street & Smith’s, Blue Ribbon Basketball and College Sports Madness. He received the 12th-most votes for 2017-18 AP preseason All-American.
