Classroom

Trevon Scott earned his undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Cincinnati in December 2018. He is currently working toward a master’s degree in sports administration with completion scheduled for April 2020. An excellent student, Scott was inducted into the UC Legend of Excellence during 2018-2019 for owning the highest cumulative grade-point average on the men’s basketball team. He was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team in 2018-19. Scott was twice selected to the Dean’s List and Bearcats Academic Honor Roll at Cincinnati in 2017-18 and 2018-19. He researched and developed a low budget strength and conditioning program for student-athletes in the Summer 2018. Following graduation, Trevon hopes to pursue a career in sports administration.

Character

Scott maintains a high level of integrity that is consistent with the expectations set through the values and mission of the Athletic Department. He serves as a positive example and strong representative of his team, university, and the city of Cincinnati. A two-year captain on the men’s basketball team, Scott continually encourages and pushes his fellow peers to strive for excellence. He has been identified as a strong leader by Head Coach John Brannen. Scott attended the Athletes in Action Leadership Institute, a summer leadership conference for student-athletes, under Brannen’s request.

Coach Brannen on Trevon Scott: “He encompasses everything you’d want from a coaching standpoint. He’s got character and thinks about others before himself. He’s got toughness and embodies our core values. He’s a great young man and I’m really excited about him being a leader on the team.”

Trevon earned the Bearcat Strong award in 2017-18, a UC Athletics leadership award that salutes a student-athlete’s excellence in the classroom, community, and personal wellness.

Community

Scott has made an impact in the Cincinnati community through numerous activities during his career. He organized and facilitated sports drills for 50 inner city children at the Cincinnati Boys & Girls Club in 2018 while discussing his life as a student-athlete and encouraging children to pursue their dreams. He held similar discussions and played games with young children at Rockdale Elementary School during Summer 2018. Scott encourages the men’s basketball team, along with other student athletes, to volunteer throughout Cincinnati at Our Daily Bread, Boys & Girls Club, and the Friar’s Club. They spend time with children and encourage them to follow rules and stay in school.

Competition

Scott saw a significant jump in playing time and responsibilities during the 2018-19 campaign as he started every game of the season. He has maintained his starting role as the 2019-20 season gets underway. An athletic rebounder and reliable perimeter shooter, Scott was named to the 2019 American Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team after helping lead the Bearcats to the tournament title, averaging 13.7 points and a team-high 9.3 rebounds at the event. During the 2018-19 season, Scott averaged 9.3 points while leading the Bearcats with 6.9 rebounds and shooting 47.2 percent from the field. He finished the season ranked among conference leaders in rebounds, field goal shooting percentage, and minutes played. He posted five double-doubles on the season, scored in double figures in 16 games, and led the team in rebounding 19 times.
