Character

“I have been in college lacrosse coaching for 36 years, having been blessed with being associated with hundreds of great young men. Often we look for role models for our younger players to follow. I have been comforted over the last four years to have Trevor Baptiste serve that role for the Denver Pioneers. With ‘Character’ serving as a primary criteria for this award, besides being the best face-off player in the history of the game, I can unequivocally state that Trevor is one of the finest young men I have ever come across. His attitude, personality, unselfishness and kindness to others is second to none.” – Bill Tierney, Denver Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach

Community

Baptiste created a youth lacrosse program called the Inner City Lacrosse League in his hometown of Newark, N.J., which consisted of a week-long camp that he instructed. He served as a counselor at Camp Heart and Soul, a day camp for kids from Newark, N.J., in White Plains, N.Y., where the focus was on teamwork and trust through ropes courses, swimming and other sporting activities. He has volunteered as a City Lax coach and visited patients at a children’s hospital with his Denver teammates. He coached and attended an event for Unified Lacrosse, which is an organization that provides children with special needs the opportunity to play the sport.

Baptiste earned a spot on Team USA for the 2018 FIL World Lacrosse Championships and was named to the USILA National Player of the Year Watch List.
