Zimmerman obtained his bachelor’s degree in the spring of 2013 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree.

Character

Zimmerman is a stand-up individual who has turned into a team leader. He is a local product who represents K-State in a positive manner. He always praises teammates for individual accolades and the opposition after every game, win or lose. He has never been involved in any negative actions either on or off the field.

Community

Zimmerman has participated in the following community service activities: Read to Achieve (reading program partnership with students at a local elementary school); Adopt-a-Family; Special Olympics Sports Clinic; Retirement Center visits.

Competition

A 2013 preseason candidate for four major college football awards (Bednarik, Nagurski, Thorpe and Lott IMPACT), Zimmerman was named a 2012 All-American by multiple media outlets and is a three-time All-Big 12 selection. He enters his senior year tied for seventh in school history in career interceptions (10) and eighth in interception-return yards (146). He has made 36 career starts, which is the fifth-most nationally entering 2013.
