Tyler Seibring is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. He received the Dean Ehler’s Leadership Award (2017-2018), CAA Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor (2016-2017), and was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American in both 2016-17 and 2017-18. Seibring has been named to the president’s list (Fall 2015, Spring 2016, Fall 2016, Spring 2017, Fall 2017), dean’s list (Spring 2018) and CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll (2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18), and he completed an undergraduate research project titled “An Analysis of Prominent Native American Author Sherman Alexie and How His Parents Shaped His Writing.”

Character

Seibring is a two-time team captain (2017-18, 2018-19), a member of the inaugural class of the Phoenix Leadership Academy (2018), a member of the President’s Student Leadership Advisory Council (2017-present) and the SAAC (2016-present). He also received the Robert C. Browne Memorial Sportsmanship Award (2017-18).

Community

Seibring created lesson plans and offered educational instruction to youth struggling to read and write, and also met their parents each week with the “It Takes a Village” project (Spring 2016,  2017 and 2018). He is an Elon University Writing Center Writing Consultant and assists students with their writing process by sharing strategies addressing various rhetorical situations (September 2016-present). 

He was a mentor for Elon University’s Academic Support for Athletics Academic, through which he assigned student-athletes with the development of academic skills necessary to succeed in the academic environment (2016-2017). He volunteered for CHAMPS Clinic, conducting a basketball clinic for a program that provides after-school mentoring for boys ages 7-9 (Spring 2016-2017 and 2017-2018).

Competition

Seibring was named to the 2017-18 NABC All-District 10 Team and is a two-time All-CAA Second Team selection and a two-time preseason All-CAA selection. As a freshman, he was named to the 2015-16 CAA All-Rookie Team, and throughout his career, he has been a three-time CAA Player of the Week and a three-time CAA Rookie of the Week. Seibring has scored 1,267 career-points, which ranks 20th on the program’s all-time scoring list while averaging 15.4 points and 6.1 rebounds for his career. He is also shooting .477 from the field and .408 from three-point range. Seibring made 82 three-pointers as a junior last season, making his shots from deep at a .429 clip.
