Classroom

Vito Friscia has been a solid performer in the classroom and owns a 3.01 grade-point average as an accounting major. He has been a recipient of the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner’s Academic Award and a member of the CAA Commissioner’s Honor Roll. He also has helped the Pride earn consecutive ABCA Team Academic Awards.

Character

Friscia is a high-character individual who has been a team leader. As a catcher, he has established relationships with all the members of the pitching staff. He is also the team’s best position player and has been an example for the team’s younger players. From a media relations perspective, Friscia has been a standup student-athlete when dealing with the press. He does not shy away from answering tough questions and is always willing to do what is asked of him.

Community

Friscia has taken part in numerous community service endeavors during his four years at Hofstra and has donated nearly 40 hours of his time to various events. He has been a regular volunteer at the Hofstra-CAA Blood Drive, escorting donors and promoting the event by distributing flyers. He has taken part in Hofstra’s Shake-a-Rake program every year, raking leaves and doing yard cleanup for the elderly and disabled residents in the community. He has also been a volunteer at Spooky Fest, a Halloween-themed event presented by the Center for Science, Teaching and Learning. In addition he is a Jingle Bell Run volunteer, helping raise funds for the Arthritis Foundation.

Competition

Friscia was a first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection in 2018 after posting a .353 average with seven home runs and 31 RBIs. He also earned second-team All-East Region accolades from the ABCA. Going into the 2019 season, Friscia has been named a preseason All-CAA selection and owns a career batting average of .305 with 148 hits, 20 doubles, 17 home runs and 78 RBIs in 145 career games.
