Classroom

Yolanda is a family relations and child development major who currently holds a 3.731 GPA.  This season Odenyo has been nominated for the NCAA Top VIII Award, and has been named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District, a second year Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar, and third year 1st Team Academic All-Big 12.  Currently, Odenyo is a   candidate for the 2008-2009 OSU Student-Athlete of the Year, and the Conoco Phillips/OSU Alum Assoc. Senior of Significance.  In 2007, Odenyo was named NSCAA/adidas Academic All-American Third Team, and NSCAA/adidas South Region Scholar-Athlete First Team.

Character

Yolanda is involved in many organizations around her community and school. She is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Youth Ministry program, and National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Community

Odenyo is the current SAAC President and Collegiate Outreach President, an on-campus outreach program through the Net Church.  For the current election year, she has been involved with the Organized Voter Registration Drive for athletes with SAAC.  Odenyo was nominated for Big 12 Community Service Champion 2008-2009, and recieved the
Big 12/Chick-fil-A Community Service award for 2008.  She is an active leader with soccer clinics and educational seminars, a Harvest II volunteer, which creates Thanksgiving baskets for the needy, spends time with the American Red Cross blood drive and teaches women’s bible study.

Competition

Odenyo leads the Big 12 in goals (15), Points (34), Points per game (1.79), and Goals per game (0.79) for the 2008 season.  Her 15 goals scored leads the Cowboys and is a career high and cowgirl soccer single-season record.  At OSU she has accomplished 1st Place All-Time in Career Points (87 points) and 1st Place All-Time in Career Shots (229). 
In 2008, she was named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List for the second year in a row and was named Pre-Season All-American. In 2007, Odenyo was honored with the Big 12 All-Tournament Team, Soccer Buzz All-American Second Team, and NSCAA/adidas All-Central Region First Team.
