Yumi Garcia

Classroom

Yumi Garcia sports a 3.328 GPA while majoring in psychology with a minor in women’s and gender studies. Garcia has earned multiple academic awards both from Charlotte and Conference USA.

Character

Garcia is an amazing person on and off the court. Her tenacity and leadership on the court is matched off of it inside the classroom and with her teammates.

Community

Garcia has taken community roles in the Dig Pink fundraisers, campus beautification events, volleyball adopt-a-spot on campus and national girls and women sports clinics. Off the court, Garcia has also participated in 13 different on-campus events.

Competition

Garcia has been named C-USA’s Libero of the Year in each of her last two seasons (2017, 2018) and earned first-team all-conference honors as well. Garcia broke the 9-year-old school record for digs in a season with 617 in 2017, only to break her own record with 681 a year ago. Garcia became the second-fastest player in NCAA history to hit 1,000 career digs last season as well as having the most digs in any single match nationwide with 44 against Davidson. In just her third season with Charlotte, Garcia has jumped up to fourth all-time in career digs and will threaten the school record (set over four years) in her third and final season.
