Zach Redmond, a finance major, has been honored with the FSU Dean’s Academic Award the past two years.
Character
Redmond, who enters his senior season as a team captain, is a three-year winner of the team’s strength and conditioning awards.
Community
Redmond has been involved in several community outreach programs. He’s participated in FSU’s Big Event Community Clean-Up, Big Brothers/Big Sisters Kills for a Cure volleyball fundraiser, Reading To Kids programs at local elementary schools and he competed in Traverse City’s Bayshore Marathon for the Women’s Cancer Fund.
Competition
Redmond earned All-CCHA second team honors after his junior season and he’s a two-time MichiganCollegeHockey.com second-team nominee. Zach has been named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association’s (CCHA) Defenseman of the Week (Jan. 10), 2010-11 Inside College Hockey.com’s First Half All-CCHA Team, and is a 2010-11 Hobey Baker Memorial Award candidate. As of January 19th he ranks 40th among Ferris State’s all-time leaders in points (86 career points) and is 27th place in assists (65 career assists).
