Aaron Caruthers

Aaron Caruthers Finalist
School Position Major
Livingstone College Guard Sociology

Caruthers has excelled in the classroom at Livingstone College and has an interest to use his sociology degree to teach social studies in Georgia.  He also aims to complete his master’s degree in school counseling.  For his efforts, Caruthers was named to the All-Academic team for the Atlantic Sun Conference where he was a student-athlete at North Florida before transferring to Livingstone.  In addition, Caruthers has participated in numerous leadership conferences during his time as a collegiate student-athlete and has volunteered his time to many worthy causes.  He participated in a trip to New Orleans to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina and FEMA efforts and has assisted with basketball camps for underprivileged high school students.  Also, in high school, he was given the opportunity to talk to elementary school children about staying in school and staying away from drugs.  These life qualities have carried over to the basketball court where as a freshman at North Florida, Caruthers played in every game and averaged 3.6 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.  His sophomore season’s stats increased to 8.5 points and 1.9 rebounds per contest.
