Crystal Dangerfield is majoring in communication. She was named to the 2017-18 American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.

Character

As a point guard, Dangerfield is unselfish and takes pride in assisting others. She is a leader both on and off the court for a young UConn team and is always willing to take advice and coaching. She is well respected by her teammates, coaching staff and fans.

Community

Dangerfield is active with the community in and around Storrs. She has been a major partner as the Huskies welcomed Daniela, a Team IMPACT member last season, and helps plan activities with her. Dangerfield assists with Bags of Love to pack toiletry bags for the homeless community in Hartford and with Habitat for Humanity. She has made multiple visits to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and volunteers annually at UConn’s SAAC O’Lantern and Geno’s Fore the Kids Charity Golf Tournament. Dangerfield has also participated in Athletes for Hope, Toys for Tots drives, a hurricane collection drive for Hurricane Harvey, Foundation for Life “Bikes for Kids,” American Red Cross blood drives, Let’s Move! active schools and food pantry collections.

Competition

Dangerfield is the 2019-20 preseason AAC Player of the Year and on the watch list for the Nancy Lieberman Award, the Wade Trophy and the Naismith Award. Last season, she was an all-conference first team pick and was named to the 2019 AAC All-Tournament and NCAA Regional All-Tournament teams.

Dangerfield entered the season with 1,032 career points and 481 career assists. She is second in the UConn record books for single-season assists with 225 last year, sitting only behind Sue Bird.
