Character

Bisnowaty completed all levels of the Panther Leadership Academy, developing strong leadership skills. He also has served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the past three years, playing an active role in the impact Pitt student-athletes had on the national debate about issues that face college athletics. As vice president during the 2015-2016 school year he represented student-athletes with Pitt Chancellor Patrick Gallagher at the semiannual Student Leadership Dinner on campus. He also represented all Pitt student-athletes at the ACC’s conference SAAC meeting during the 2015 year as they considered the autonomy governance legislation and how it would impact the student-athlete experience.

Community

Bisnowaty has been one of the most prolific community service participants during his time at the University of Pittsburgh. He has contributed more than 100 hours of service during his four years on campus thus far. Bisnowaty has been a regular contributor with the Congregation Beth Shalom’s Sports Luncheon, which allows athletes from both regional colleges and professional teams to interact with special-needs individuals; and with the MDA Muscle Team fundraiser, spending time with MDA campers at the largest fundraiser of the year for the organization. During the 2015-2016 school year, he was a part of the United Way’s Be a Middle School Mentor Program, working with students on a weekly basis at Pittsburgh Public Schools’ Sci-Tech Middle School adjacent to Pitt’s campus. Bisnowaty also has been a participant in the preparations for the University of Pittsburgh’s Christmas at Pitt initiative for the last two years. Activities have included helping wrap gifts and prepare meal supplies for the event, which serves more than 2,000 members of the Pittsburgh community on Christmas Day in conjunction with the United Way. He has earned the ACC’s Top Six for Service Award and is on the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List for 2016.

Competition

Bisnowaty has been a steadying force on the Pitt offensive line, starting in 33 games for the Panthers over the last four years. For his efforts in the 2015 season, he earned All-ACC honors at offensive tackle from the coaches (first team) and media (second team) and finished fourth in the coaches’ voting for the ACC’s Jacobs Blocking Trophy. Prior to the 2016 season, the redshirt senior was selected to the Outland Trophy Watch List. The unit helped lead the way for a top-50 rushing offense during the 2015 season, while the offense had a top-30 third down conversion rate.
