Genik holds a 3.41 GPA in Health Sciences/Physical Therapy. After Hartford, he plans on attending medical school. Genik is a two-time America East All-Academic Team member (2010, 2011), an honor that only 11 lacrosse student-athletes from the America East earn. In addition, he’s a three-time America East Academic Honor Roll member for achieving a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Character

An ambassador of the Hartford lacrosse program, Genik was chosen by his fellow teammates as a tri-captain of the 2012 team, the defending America East Tournament champions. Through his four-year career, he has continued to grow as both a valued teammate and individual in the Hartford community. Since first stepping foot on Hartford’s campus and on the turf, Genik has held himself accountable for both his actions as well as the actions of his fellow teammates. Since day one, he has been one of the hardest working student-athletes to wear a Hartford uniform and through his career has continued to work harder as each day passes. In the weight room, he has persistently pushed his teammates to become better. Genik is not only smart both on and off of the field, but is also a team player, and he has shown perseverance as a member of the Hawks’ lacrosse team. As a freshman, Genik led a team that finished 2-9 and had struggled the previous year, going 0-13 prior to his arrival. He started and played in every game that season, and led the Hawks in scoring as a rookie. Instead of throwing in the towel, or transferring to another university, Genik continued to work even harder on his game and in the weight room, and helped his team improve to 4-10 the following season in 2010. Genik’s perseverance and hard work paid off as last year, as a junior, he helped lead the program to its first-ever America East Tournament title and NCAA Tournament berth.

Community

Since stepping foot on campus as a freshman, Genik has served as one of the front runners of the Hawks’ community-service initiatives, helping lead the team to two-straight Community Service Awards (awarded by the Department of Athletics). He has spearheaded the Hawks’ involvement in several community service projects, including Feeding Children Everywhere, House of Bread, Special Olympics and raking leaves for the elderly. In addition, Genik has played a major role in developing a special relationship and connection with a local community member, a young child who has been battling cancer for the past three years. Genik and his teammates have made countless visits with this child in the hospital during his treatments, and have invited him to games, practices and team functions. This relationship has continued through the past three years.

Competition

Genik is a three-time America East All-Conference honoree. As a junior, he was named to the America East All-Conference first team. In three seasons with the Hawks, Genik has tallied 83 career goals, good for seventh most in program history. In addition, with 112 career points, he is just three shy from cracking Hartford’s all-time top-10 in scoring. Despite missing three games because of injury last season, Genik finished third on the team in goals (23) and fifth in assists (10) for 33 points. Seventeen of his 33 points came in conference play, including 13 goals, to lead the team to a mark of 3-2 in America East conference play. As a sophomore, Genik started and played in all 14 games, and led the team in scoring with 36 goals and nine assists for 45 points, a career best. He recorded at least one point in every game that season. During his freshman campaign, Aidan started and played in all 13 games and led the team in scoring with 24 goals and 10 assists for 34 points, joining classmate Ryan Compitello in becoming the first freshmen teammates to record 30-point seasons in the school’s 27-year Division I history. As a freshman, he was named to the All-Rookie Team and earned second-team honors as a sophomore in 2010.
