Hutchinson is pursuing a degree in applied exercise science, carrying a 3.52 GPA.

He has been named to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District 5, 2019 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, and is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.

Character

Hutchinson is entering his second season as a team captain for the Wolverines.

Instead of entering the 2021 NFL Draft after an injury-shortened season, Hutchinson returned to play his senior season and be a leader for his teammates.

Community

Hutchinson often spends time with children. He recently volunteered with two local schools, Our Lady of Victory and Divine Child, speaking to groups of students and student-athletes.

Prior to COVID-19, Hutchinson was also a regular at the C.S. Mott’s Children’s Hospital.

Competition

Heading into his senior year, Hutchinson was named a preseason All-American. He was also selected to the Ted Hendricks Award, Chuck Bednarik Award, and Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch Lists. Following his performance against Washington, Hutchinson was named the Reese’s Senior Bowl Player of the Week, Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week, and was a PFF National Team of the Week selection.

In 2019, he was named to the All-Big Ten third team.

For his career, Hutchinson has 18 starts in 31 career games played. He has compiled 55-51-106 tackles while also recording 15.0 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and six pass breakups.
