A business marketing major at SCSU, Prochno was named to the 2014 All-NCHC Academic team and was named to the 2013 All-WCHA Academic team. He is scheduled to graduate in May 2015.

Character

A four-year leader on SCSU’s blueline, Prochno was selected by his team to serve as an alternate captain for the Huskies in 2014-15. He was named team’s outstanding rookie in 2011-12 and has helped lead the squad to an NCAA Frozen Four appearance in 2013, an NCAA Midwest Regional crown in 2013, two consecutive regular season conference titles in 2013 and 2014, and a trip to the 2014 NCAA West Regional championship game.  A two-way player, Prochno contributes on offense and defense and serves as a a clubhouse leader.

Community

Andrew Prochno has participated in several community and campus outreach efforts during his time on campus. He has served three years with the Husky Haulers, which is a volunteer effort that helps incoming students at SCSU move into the residence halls at the start of the fall semester. He has also been a regular participant in the annual Skate with the Huskies program, which provides local kids a chance to skate with members of the SCSU hockey team on the Huskies’ home rink. Prochno has also assisted with youth hockey and skating clinics in his hometown of Minnetonka, Minn., during his collegiate career.

Competition

One of the NCHC’s top blueliners, Prochno was named to the 2014 All-NCHC Honorable Mention team on defense. He has received conference player of the week honors three times during his college career and was named to the 2012 All-WCHA Rookie Team as a freshman. Prochno was also named to the 2013 All-NCAA Midwest Regional team. He led the Huskies with a +20 ranking in 2013-14 and also notched 54 blocks, three goals and 16 assists. In his career, Prochno currently has 13 goals and 63 assists and ranks seventh in the team records for career points by a defenseman with 76 points. In four years at SCSU, Prochno owns an impressive +52 on the plus/minus and has played in 113 games during his career. At SCSU, Prochno has enjoyed 17 multi-point games and was named the team’s rookie of the year in 2011-12. He has helped SCSU win regular season conference titles in 2013 and 2014 along with an NCAA Midwest Regional title in 2013. He also was part of SCSU’s first Frozen Four team in 2013 and helped SCSU advance to title game of NCAA West Regional in 2014.
