Vastardis carries a 3.86 cumulative GPA. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in movement science and is now pursuing a master’s in physiology.
Throughout his academic career, he has been named an Academic All-Big Ten honoree four times.
Vastardis has long-term plans to attend medical school.
Character
Vastardis has been named a team captain for the past two seasons. He was able to overcome back issues to return for his final season of eligibility in 2021.
Starting his career at Michigan as a walk-on, Vastardis earned a scholarship prior to the season in 2019.
Community
Vastardis has been integral in organizing student-athlete visiting groups to the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System since 2018. This program began with just the football team by his hands and has since expanded to include participants from across Michigan.
Competition
Vastardis won the starting center job one year after earning his scholarship. He has played in 19 career games, including six starts - while also contributing on special teams.
Vastardis has helped lead an offensive line that helped produce the top all-purpose yards producers in FBS through two weeks.
