Hughes-Murray has already graduated with a psychology degree.

In his career, he has been selected as a Pac-12 Academic honoree four times.

Character

Hughes-Murray enters his third consecutive season as a team captain for the Beavers. It’s just the second time in program history that a player has been a captain for three consecutive seasons.

He is both a 2021 Campbell Trophy nominee and an AFCA Good Works Team honoree.

Hughes-Murray is also a two-time semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy and was named to both the 2019 Wuerffel Trophy and 2020 Comeback Player of the Year Watch Lists.

Community

Hughes-Murray has been an active participant in the community. He has spoken and read to multiple elementary schools in the area, visited kids at the MacLaren Correctional Facility, and also interacted with children at the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

Early in his collegiate career, Hughes-Murray went to the Dominican Republic for a week with Beavers Without Borders, which has been established to help communities in foreign countries.

Competition

Through the first three games of the season, Hughes-Murray has notched 11 tackles, including three tackles for loss and two sacks.

Hughes-Murray enters this season having played in 37 career games with 24 starts after missing his senior season to injury. He has recorded 101 tackles, seven sacks, two blocks, three pass deflections, and two fumble recoveries.
