Aric Holman is on track to graduate in the spring of 2019 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies. For two years in a row (2017, 2018), he has earned the Newsom Award, which recognizes Mississippi State athletes with the highest GPA on their team. For interests outside of playing basketball as a career, Holman is interested in becoming a basketball analyst or coach.

Character

Holman demonstrates character, leadership and poise. His work-hard, can-do attitude and following the golden rule set him apart from others. As someone who prides himself on teamwork, Holman is selfless and willing to work with other teammates to help them succeed. He takes the time to work with others on the team as he believes that he and his teammates are there to support one another on and off the court. During press conferences after an impressive game for himself, Holman takes the time to praise his teammates for the hard work they gave to make the win possible.

Community

Holman has worked with Camp Rising Sun, a local camp that gives children who have been diagnosed with or have had cancer a week of fun, which has helped him connect with the Starkville community. He has also represented his team as part of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), participated in two different fun runs to promote activity and healthy lifestyle and worked with a vacation Bible school in the Starkville area.

Competition

Recently tabbed one of the top 10 seniors nationally and one of five SEC players to watch by ESPN, Holman has established that he is a fierce competitor on the court. He has improved his stat line during each of his three seasons with the Bulldogs highlighted by career-bests with 10.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game in 2017-18. He enters the season 289 points shy from reaching the 1,000-point milestone for his career.
