Character

Rivera is perhaps the most likable and most recognizable guy on the squad. He is front and center at all events the team is associated with and is a leader both on and off the field. Not only is he involved with the athletics department, he is visible around campus at various events. Whenever the team needs a spokesperson, Rivera is the guy the coaches ask to represent the program. “Brance Rivera epitomizes the word CLASS,” TCU coach Jim Schlossnagle said. “Not only is he a tremendously talented athlete and baseball player, but Brance is truly one of the great ‘people’ that I have ever met in 20 years of college coaching. He is a faithful Christian young man involved in many ministries on campus, and leads a weekly Bible study within our baseball program. He is a very accomplished student, well spoken, immensely involved in many community-service projects and a true example of what a student-athlete should strive to become. The best statement I can make about Brance Rivera is that I would give up a body part today if you could tell me that my 12 year old son would turn out just like Brance ... or, if my 11-year-old daughter could marry a man similar to Brance Rivera.”

Community

Rivera participates yearly with TCU’s Reading Frogs program, the LEAPS program and the Library “Read” campaign. Additionally, he has participated in local food bank initiatives. He is heavily involved in campus’ Ignite program. Additionally, he is active in church activities in his home state of Iowa. During the summer between his freshman and sophomore season, he played summer ball with the Athletes in Action organization.

Rivera is a two-time all-conference performer as a junior and sophomore. In 158 games career games, including 115 starts, he’s a .326 hitter with 151 total hits. RIvera has also racked up 70 RBI, 27 doubles, 25 stolen bases and 13 home runs.
