Classroom

Majoring in human performance and minoring in health promotion and nutrition, Gilbreath hopes to become a sports nutritionist. She has a GPA of 3.11 and was selected to the Pac-10 All-Academic Second Team in 2011 and received Pac-10 All-Academic Honorable Mention as a sophomore in 2010.

Character

The team captain for the past two seasons, Gilbreath is a leader on her team and on campus. A solid Christian, she leads team bible studies. She is also an outspoken and supportive leader on the floor for her teammates. She has played in every game during her career, and started all but one game. Gilbreath is active in several campus organizations, and is a founding member and vice president of Fresh Faith, a student organization that provides outreach, fellowship, witnessing and events on and around campus.

Community

Gilbreath is always involved in something either on campus or in the community. Passionate about outreach, she has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Dribble for a Cure, Swim with Mike, Relay for Life, donates regularly to Goodwill, and has joined her team in programs at the YMCA, Blazer Safe Haven—a learning center for children—sports fairs and the Jewish Boys and Girls Club… On campus, she has been involved with the Black Student Assembly as a liaison for the student organization Athletes Pressing Beyond Expectations. She also has been a SAAC member of the Trojan Athletic Senate and recently she became involved with an inner city community outreach program called Highways and Byways.

Competition

Gilbreath became the first Trojan since 1997 to be named an AP All-American, earning AP All-America Honorable Mention in 2011. She also became the 22nd Trojan to score 1,000 career points last season. She led the team in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks as a junior. She was a two-time All-Pac-10 Team member and a Pac-10 All-Defensive Team selection (2010 & 2011). She was selected to the 2011 WNIT All-Tournament Team and was the first Trojan since 1997 to earn multiple Pac-10 Player of the Week awards in a season, picked on Nov. 15 and Dec. 6, 2010. She was the 2010 Pac-10 Co-Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore and as a freshman, was the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and was selected to the 2009 All-Pac-10 Third Team, Pac-10 All-Freshman Team and earned Pac-10 Defensive Honorable Mention.
