Cara Guthrie owns a 3.4 grade-point average as an accounting major and is also minoring in business management. She is a member of UNC Asheville’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Character

Cara Guthrie, a two-year team captain, is a member of UNC Asheville’s Order of the Pisgah. As part of the Order of the Pisgah, Guthrie helps host special university audiences and demonstrate the intellectual, creative and diverse involvements of the UNC Asheville student body. She also assists the university’s chancellor and the Division of University Advancement with achieving the goals and missions of UNC Asheville.

Community

Guthrie participated in the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program this past spring through which she went to the Pack Library in downtown Asheville and helped low-income families prepare and file their tax returns. In addition, she has coached youth volleyball in the Asheville area and has attended numerous community service projects with the UNC Asheville volleyball team.

Competition

Guthrie became the latest member of the prestigious UNC Asheville 1,000-kill club at the Hampton Inn Charleston/West Ashley College of Charleston Invitational on Sept. 8, 2018. Guthrie was a first-team All-Big South selection in 2017 and a 2018 preseason All-Big South selection. Guthrie has been chosen Big South Volleyball Player of the Week multiple times in her career.
