Classroom
Chakecia Miller boasts a 3.22 grade-point average as a psychology major. The recipient of the team’s 2013-14 Academic Success Award, she has been recognized on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice and is a three-time Dean’s List honoree. In addition, she was named an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sport Scholar last season.
Character
Miller is a member of GW’s Leadership Academy and has been a Student-Athlete Advisory Council team representative for the last two years. In addition, while GW does not have team captains, Miller has taken on all of the responsibilities that a team captain would normally perform.
Community
Miller has accumulated more than 40 hours of community service during her time at GW. She is an active member of the Grassroot Project, which teaches HIV/AIDS awareness to at-risk middle school students, and she participated in Lemonade Day, which teaches kids about entrepreneurship. In addition, she took part in the D.C. Autism Speaks Walk and prepares food for the homeless with her teammates.
Competition
Miller enters her senior season ranking 14th all-time at GW in career steals (205) and 18th in career assists (258). A 2014 Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team selection, the point guard is one of just three players in the nation to record 10 steals in a game in both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. Miller averaged 8.3 points per game last season, ranking second on the team in assists (114), steals (46) and minutes played (27.4), and she ranked ninth in the A-10 in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.4).
