A three-time member of the Atlantic Hockey Association All-Academic Team, Wydo has compiled a 3.67 cumulative grade-point average with just 23 credits needed for graduation. Wydo is pursuing a bachelor’s of science degree in accounting with a secondary focus on finance. He is on schedule to finish his course of study in the spring of 2015.

Character

Because of his preparation and work ethic, Wydo has earned the respect of his peers on the Robert Morris hockey team. He was appointed as assistant captain before his junior year and promoted to captain for his senior season. Although he is one of the most talented offensive players in Division I hockey, Wydo does not consider himself exempt from doing the work the rest of his teammates do.

Community

Wydo has participated in numerous community initiatives since arriving at RMU in the fall of 2011. He has served as an on-ice volunteer for the Arctic Foxes youth hockey association for the past four years and has volunteered for the Sewickley Harvest Festival. Wydo also has coordinated the team’s roadside cleanup initiative.

Competition

Wydo is one of the most effective goal-scorers in college hockey. He enters his senior season as the leading active scorer in Division I, with 65 goals through three years. As a junior, Wydo broke RMU single-season program records for goals (31) and points (54). He starts his senior year fourth on the Colonials’ all-time scoring list with 107 points and remains on track to set a new offensive standard in the history of the team. Additionally, he became the first RMU player to be named to the all-USCHO Second Team last spring. In March, Wydo made the all-Atlantic Hockey First Team and earned the AHA Tournament MVP after leading the Colonials to their first conference championship and NCAA tournament berth.
