Classroom

Olson has already graduated with a degree in human physiology. He is now pursuing a master’s in public health administration and policy. Olson aspires to attend medical school and has recently placed in the 95th percentile on the MCAT.

He was named a semi-finalist for the 2020 Walter V. Campbell Trophy and received the 2021 Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship.

While at Minnesota, Olson has been named Academic All-Big Ten three times. He was also named a 2019-20 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and a 2020 CoSidA Academic All-District first team selection.

Character

Instead of team captains, Minnesota honors players as game captains. Olson has been named a game captain multiple times as the leader of the offensive line.

His character has never been questioned and he has earned the respect of his teammates by leading from example and doing the right thing.

Community

Despite balancing the schedule of a student-athlete, Olson is involved in numerous groups. He volunteers with the Pre-Med Interest Group, University of Minnesota School of Public Health Rural Health Interest Group, and University of Minnesota School of Public Health and Community Worker (Phillips Neighbored Clinic)

Olson also participates in leadership roles as the Move N’Eat Coordinator and CHAT Associate with the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic.

Competition

Olson has started all 48 games of his career, seeing action at left guard, center, and right guard. He should leave Minnesota as the school record holder in career starts.

With the Gophers, Olson provided protection for an All-American RB in Mohamed Ibrahim in 2020 and helped Minnesota become the first school in Big Ten history to have two All-Big Ten first team receivers (Tyler Johnson, Rashod Bateman) in 2019. Olson has also provided protection for Tanner Morgan, the record-setting quarterback.

He will be remembered as one fo the most consistent offensive lineman to ever wear the Maroon and Gold.
