Classroom

Ringwald is a three-time selection to the Empire 8 President’s List, which recognizes student-athletes for maintaining a 3.75 grade point average or higher.  He is a three-time selection to the Atlantic Hockey Association All-Academic squad.  In addition, Ringwald graduated in three years from RIT in business where he boasted a 3.80 grade point average.  He is currently working on his MBA at RIT’s E. Philip Saunders College of Business.

Character

Ringwald is a two-time captain of RIT’s hockey team, which includes the current 2009-10 season.  He leads by example and is the type of player who tries to make his teammates better.

Community

Ringwald and the Tigers have participated in several charitable and community related activities throughout the greater Rochester area.  He and his teammates frequently read to children at Margaret’s House (RIT’s on-campus daycare center).  Last year, Ringwald led a contingent of players to School #5 in downtown Rochester to read and interact with elementary school children.  In addition, he participated in “Clean Sweep,” a community service function sponsored by RIT’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.  Also, Ringwald has plans to help raise money for “Coaches Care,” which helps raise money for families in need.

Competition

Ringwald has played in 104 career games heading into the 2009-10 season.  He is RIT’s all-time leader in assists (78) and points (88) by a defenseman at the Division I level.  He is also the leader in overall assists at RIT.  Ringwald is a two-time first team All-Atlantic Hockey Association selection and was named to the AHA All-Rookie team in 2006-07.  That year, Ringwald led all defensemen in AHA play with 26 assists and 27 points and was tied for sixth nationally among all defensemen with 34 total points over the course of the season.  In addition, he was second nationally among defensemen and 10th overall with 31 assists and recorded 20 power play points (two goals, 18 assists and 20 points).
