She has been named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic Team three times and was an ESPN Academic All-American Second-Team selection in 2010. Character

Birdsall is returning to the Bear’s soccer team from her third injury. Prior to the 2011 season, she underwent ankle surgery and missed the entire preseason. She returned to start in 14 of 15 games before spraining her MCL in her right knee. In the first game of the 2012 season, Birdsall partially tore the PCL in her left knee and received a medical hardship. She is a two-time team captain and spent her summer interning in the athletics marketing department, helping sell season tickets for the fall sports.

Community

Birdsall volunteers at the Weld County Food Bank, where she helps make to-go boxes for families and works in the family food store. She also volunteers at the Cancer rehabilitation clinic in town, doing mass mailings for large events (i.e. Relay for Life). Birdsall has also volunteered for both Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity—working at the store close to her hometown.

Competition

In 2010, Birdsall won the Golden Boot Award, presented to the Big Sky Conference player who leads the conference in points. She was also named the Offensive MVP of the league and to the NSCAA All-Pacific Region Third-Team. During 2011, Birdsall had two goals and two assists in 15 games played and 10 of her 23 shots were on goal. During the 2010 campaign, Birdsall started all 19 games, scoring eight goals with two assists for a total of 18 points. An amazing 20 of her 32 shots were on goal and she kicked game-winners against Wyoming and Farleigh Dickinson. In her freshman year, she played in all 18 games, scoring three goals with one assist with game-winning goals against Western Michigan and Creighton.
