Classroom

Stevens maintains a 3.46 GPA as an accounting major. She’s a three-time Big East all-academic team honoree for having a consistent cumulative GPA of above a 3.0 and last year made the Capital One CoSIDA academic all-district second team. Stevens was named a St. John’s Peer Educator for SD101 to educate St. John’s freshmen and worked with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee to help provide student-athletes with priority registration.

Character

Stevens was chosen by the university to be the student-athlete representative to speak at two of the most prestigious donors’ memorial services. She has worked consistently to rehab an offseason injury that may prevent her from starting the first games of her senior season.

Community

Stevens has participated in several community-service projects, including being a three-time participant in University Service day. She’s also been a leader in the Women In Sports Day pre-game clinic, volunteered at numerous Midnight Runs, St. John’s Bread and Life Soup kitchen and led a holiday food and toy collection and distribution drive. Additionally, Stevens has volunteered twice a month at St. Nick’s Men’s Shelter and the Providence House Women’s Shelter and participated in the team-sponsored Community Mayor event twice, Heartshare First Step and the women’s basketbal team’s sponsor a family.

Competition

After sitting out the first 10 games of her senior season rehabbing a knee injury, Stevens came back on the scene on Dec. 17 and returned to the starting line up on Dec. 31.  Stevens was selected to the 2011-12 preseason All-BIG EAST squad and the Naismith Trophy Early Season watch list. She has made the lists for three-straight seasons. So far during the 2011-12 season, she averages 7.2 ppg; 6.5 rpg and 2.5 apg.

She made an immediate impact her first weekend of play with 8.0 ppg and 6.5 rpg and earned STJ-Chartwells Classic All-Tournament honors. She averages a near double-double with 9.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in BIG EAST play this season.

For her career, Stevens long list of honors includes Honorable-mention Associated Press and WBCA Region I All-America recognition in 2010, All-Metropolitan Writers Association (All-Met) Player of the Year, first team All-BIG EAST (2010) and second team All-BIG EAST (2011), 2008 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, All-BIG EAST Freshman team and was a 2011 Capital One Academic All-District Second Team member.

Stevens is No. 9 on St. John’s all-time scoring list with 1,286 points and No. 5 in all-time rebounding with 712 boards. She averages 12.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game for her career
