Character

Coach Tom Izzo has called Green one of the great MSU leaders of all-time, comparing him to former national champions Magic Johnson and Mateen Cleaves. An excellent spokesman for the program, Green is always respectful to the game and the opponent. While he’s a strong competitor, he loves making friends with players from across the country.

Community

Green is a fan favorite who never forgets his roots. Being from Saginaw, just more than an hour away from East Lansing, is a great source of pride. Throughout the year, he regularly makes trips home to be a part of different civic events and charities.

Competition

A 2010 and 2011 third-team All-Big Ten honoree, Green was the Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year as a sophomore. Last year, he averaged 12.6 points per game while leading the team in rebounding (8.6) and assists (4.1). In fact, he was one of just 10 players in the nation to lead his team in rebounds and assists. He enters the year with a shot at becoming just the third player in MSU history to reach 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. Was named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25.
