Classroom
Drew Lock is on track to earn his undergraduate degree from Mizzou this coming spring and is majoring in parks, recreation and tourism.
Character
Lock is an outstanding leader of men. He’s been named team captain the past two seasons and is asked to represent the team in many other ways (whether in the community, in the media, etc.), and always does a first-class job in doing so. Lock understands that whether they win or lose, he has a responsibility to represent Mizzou, his teammates, his coaches, his family, his fans, his friends and others with respect.
Community
Lock doesn’t seek attention for any of his community involvement, but he deserves recognition for all of the events he does during his down time. He’s involved in many team activities that benefit the Columbia youth, including paying visits to local schools to encourage kids to do the right things. Lock has been part of many visits to the local children’s hospital to lift spirits of the boys and girls and their families.
Competition
As one of the nation’s top quarterbacks, Lock is a Heisman Trophy candidate. He is on the preseason watch list for numerous prestigious awards this season, and he’s started the year in fine fashion, guiding his team to a 3-0 start as of nomination time.
In 2017, he was the SEC’s leader in passing efficiency, passing yards, total offense, passing yards per game, passing yards per completion (led the nation) and points responsible for. Lock earned first-team All-SEC by the AP Coaches, Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week (9/3/17), and SEC Offensive Player of the Week (9/5/17 and 11/27/17).
