Most importantly, Dustin returned for his senior year despite being drafted in 2013.  Dustin is currently exploring his graduate school options following his May 2014 graduation with his eye on a career as a physical therapist.

Character

DeMuth is a great person who comes from a tremendous family.  Not only does he excel on the field, but he is a model student in the classroom.

Community

DeMuth has participated in Read Across America by volunteering to represent the Indiana University baseball team at elementary schools around the city of Bloomington. At each of the schools, he read a handful of books to several different classes and advocated the importance of reading to the students. He also participated in the Hoosiers Out Run Cancer Run/Walk to help cancer awareness. Dustin helped mentor a group of children from a local elementary school by engaging in games with them to help increase their confidence and teach them importance of living a healthy lifestyle as well.

Competition

A Second Team All-American selection by Perfect Game, DeMuth was also tabbed an All-American (third team) by Baseball America and the Collegiate Baseball newspaper. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the eighth round (230th overall) of the June Major League Baseball draft. The First Team All-Big Ten third baseman was also a ABCA/Rawlings All-Mideast Regional Second Team choice. He led the Hoosiers and ranked second in the Big Ten with a .377 batting clip and added five homeruns, 41 RBI, 24 doubles, a triple and 11 stolen bases to his season totals. His 24-double accumulation is the second-most in school history; and tops in the Big Ten/12th nationally for 2013. He started all 65 games at third base, posting multiple hits in 29 contests and ranked in the Big Ten’s top-10 with 92 hits (t-1st/13th nationally), 133 total bases (2nd), .377 average (2nd), .545 slugging percentage (t-3rd), .433 on-base percentage (5th), 46 runs (t-5th), five homeruns (t-7th) and 41 RBI (t-10th). His 92 hits tied for the 7th-most in IU history, even with 2002 B1G Player of the Year Kennard Jones.
