Classroom
Harmeyer graduated magna cum laude in May with a 3.78 GPA and her undergraduate degree in Nursing. She also became a registered nurse after passing her NCLEX in June. Harmeyer has been on the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll in each of her four years, as well as Dean’s List in eight-consecutive semesters. She is also certified in Basic Life Support/CPR by the American Heart Association.
Character
Harmeyer will commonly practice (or play games), then complete a 12-hour clinical rotation for nursing, or vice versa. Last year, she would often work for class at a local Intensive Care Unit from 6 AM to 5 PM and go to practice after. Harmeyer balances class, clinicals and NCAA Division I basketball, all while succeeding in each facet.
Community
Harmeyer has varied experiences in community service, most recently over the summer when she participated in Belmont’s mission trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She has made a mission trip to Brazil in three of her four years at Belmont. She also has experience working with the Mercy Multiplied Women’s Organization, the Room at the Inn Homeless Shelter, Harvest Hands of Nashville, Ronal McDonald House, Best Buddies Nashville and People Loving Nashville. Overall, Harmeyer has participated in over 20 community service events of the last four years.
Competition
The Bruins hold an 84-17 record in Harmeyer’s career, as she helped Belmont to four-consecutive OVC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. Harmeyer racked up a career best 16.5 points per game and 8.9 rebounds last season and was named All-OVC first team and OVC All-Tournament team. Harmeyer was also among the nation’s leaders in double-doubles with 13 last year. She was recently picked as the OVC Preseason Player of the Year for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
