Garrison Brooks in on track to graduate in May with a degree in communication studies. Brooks has completed a broadcast internship while at home in Alabama and remains interested in a career in broadcasting.

Character

Brooks is a two-time team captain and serves as North Carolina’s team representatie on the University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Brooks is also a memmber of the Leadership Academy’s Cultivate program, where he serves as a mentor for first-year students.

One of the more vocal members on the team, Brooks uses his voice to speak out about issues related to social justice.

Community

Brooks has taken part in many community initiatives at North Carolina. During his time on campus, Brooks has volunteered with Special Olympics, the Salavation Army Holiday Family Adoption, Kids Holiday Clinic, pen pal programs with elementary school students, created PSA videos about voting, and volunteered to give guided video tours of the academic center on campus.

Competition

Garrison Brooks is a four-year starter and two-time teamm captain. Prior to the 2020-21 season, Brooks was named the preseason ACC Player of the Year.

In 2019-20, Brooks earned second team All-ACC and ACC’s Most Improved Player honors, and was North Carolina’s Most Valuable Player. During this season, Brooks led the ACC in scoring in conference games with 18.8 points per game and was second in rebounding and field goal percentage.

Brooks has scored more than 1,000 points and is nearing 700 rebounds during his career at North Carolina. Dating back the last 15 seasons, Brooks has the second-most defensive player of the game awards by a Tar Heel.
