Classroom

Westlund is set to graduate with an economics degree this spring.

He is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and three-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete.

Character

Westlund hails from Stockholm, Sweden. He uses his experience of relocating to help other international student-athletes on the hockey team adjust.

He was named an alternate captain for the Buckeyes last year and is now a team captain entering his senior season.

“Westlund is such a good teammate. Guys respect him because he goes and gives his all, but he shows respect to every other individual on this team. Every guy in that locker room knows he would give anything to any one of those individuals.”
- Head Coach Steve Rohlik

Community

Westlund frequently represents the team at events on campus. He has often spent time at the Oval encouraging students to attend men’s hockey games.

Competition

In his career as a Buckeye, Westlund has played in over 88 games and tallied 57 points (25 G, 32 A).

He was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team after a stellar first season. Westlund was a member of the Ohio State squad that won the 2019 Big Ten regular season championship and reached the NCAA Tournament that same year. The Buckeyes were poised to return, but the following season was canceled due to the pandemic.

Entering his junior year, Westlund was named a preseason 2020-21 All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection.
