Classroom
Coan earned his bachelor’s degree from Wisconsin, carrying a 3.34 GPA in real estate and urban land.
He was named a semifinalist for the 2020 William V. Campbell Trophy and has twice earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.
Coan is currently taking graduate classes at Notre Dame.
Character
Coan arrived at Notre Dame as a graduate transfer this past January. He subtly immersed himself into the program, getting to know his teammates and building relationships with them. Coan slowly gained their trust and respect through his tireless work ethic and dedication to becoming a valued and trusted teammate.
Coan is now a leader in the locker room and one of the most respected members of the program.
Community
In Coan’s volunteer efforts, he has primarily focused on giving back to children.
He has spent time on Friday mornings during the season at local children’s hospitals. Coan has also volunteered with Every Child’s Dream and the Athletes Helping Others Club.
Competition
Coan has led the Irish to a 4-0 mark on the season, including a record-setting opening game. He went 26-35 for 366 yards and four touchdowns, culminating in the Manning Award Star of the Week.
He has completed 77-128 passes on the season with 986 yards, nine touchdowns, and only two interceptions. Coan has connected with five different pass catchers for touchdowns.
Before joining Notre Dame, Coan was a stand-out for Wisconsin. Finishing with a 12-6 record, he threw for 3,278 yards, 23 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions. He completed his career as a Badger ranked 13th in passing yards (3,278), third in competition percentage (68.0%), and third in pass efficiency rating (144.7) all-time.
