Classroom

Jake Locker is on track to graduate with degree in history. He was an honorable-mention Academic All-Pac-10 selection in 2007.

Character

Locker, a team captain, has been the unquestioned leader of the team since his redshirt freshman season. He’s involved in numerous community efforts and despite being forecast as the potential No. 1 overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft, Locker decided to return for his senior season. In 2009 Locker won the Guy Flaherty Award as the team’s most inspirational player, which is the University of Washington’s oldest and most prestigious team award.

Community

Locker helped bring attention to the plight of Chelsea Ebert, who passed away from cancer, and Kyle Roger, who died from brain cancer. He’s also a very regular visitor at Children’s hospital near the UW campus.

Competition

Locker enters his senior season with a lot of Heisman buzz after compiling a Pac-10-leading 3,188 yards of total offense in 2009. As a junior Locker earned honorable-mention All-Pac-10 and honorable-mention Pro Football Weekly All-American honors. He was also selected as a Davey O’Brien Quarterback Award semifinalist and finished third in national fan voting for the award. A dual threat out of the backfield, Locker’s 1,554 yards on the ground are already the most rushing yards by a quarterback in school history.
