As one of the greatest players in St. Joseph’s history, the 5’11 guard from Chester, Pennsylvania, Jameer Nelson averaged 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals a game during his senior season. During his senior season he become the SJU career leader in assists with 693 and points with 1,996 and ended up ranked third in steals with 245. He led the Hawks to a 95-27 record and three post season appearances during his four years.

His play and leadership, both on and off the court, earned Nelson many awards in his senior season among them the ESPN.com National Player of the Year, Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, All-Atlantic 10 First Team, Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team and the prized Naismith College Player of the Year award.
