Character

Keehn is one of only a handful of players chosen to the LSU Unity Council. This council is made up of LSU football players who serve as the vocal leadership for the team. As LSU’s oldest player at 26 years of age, the Queensland, Australia, native takes an active role as a leader on the team.

Community

Keehn has led the team in community service hours in each of the past two academic years. In 2014-15 alone, Keehn took part in several community events such as Thanksgiving with the Tigers and the Halloween BOOzar. Keehn also visited children at a local Baton Rouge hospital and took part in the local hospital’s Pay It Forward campaign. In addition, Keehn participated in a Big Buddy event through which he spent time with a local youth.

Competition

Entering his senior season, Keehn is on the watch list for the prestigious Ray Guy Award given to the nation’s top punter. He also is a preseason All-SEC Second Team selection after earning second-team All-SEC honors as a junior in 2014. Keehn ranks as one of the top punters in college football heading into 2015 as he enters his third consecutive season as LSU’s starting punter. He had his best year as a Tiger in 2014, earning second-team All-SEC honors after averaging 44.9 yards a punt, and he set the school record in 2014 with 3,189 punting yards on 71 punts. His 43.4-yard per punt career average ranks third in LSU history.

Prior to his time at LSU, Keehn was a high school national champion javelin thrower in Australia, and he also won a national title at the high school level in rowing in 2006. Keehn had never taken a snap of competitive football in a game until the 2012 season opener versus North Texas, but he trained at ProKick Australia Academy to learn how to be a punter in American football.
