Classroom

Mitchell shows a 3.55 GPA as an international business major. She is a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar-Athlete in 2008. She was selected as honorable mention Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete as a junior, and has earned a spot on the Bradley Athletic Director’s Honor Roll all seven of her semesters at BU.

Character

She was nominated to the NCAA Leadership Conference and is a three-year member of the Braves Council, where she is currently serving as President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Mitchell was selected as the student-athlete representative for the APPLE conference; a national conference on alcohol awareness. She is a spokesperson for HEAT, where she speaks to freshmen student-athletes about responsible drinking behaviors. She also serves on the diversity committee to enhance the welfare of minority student-athletes.

Community

Mitchell has taken part in the Missouri Valley Conference Just Read initiative and has assisted with the Buddy with the Braves program. She is a pen pal with local school children, helping them learn life skills. She has also visited the Fondulac Rehabilitation and Health Care Center to talk with residents.

Competition

Mitchell led the team with a .293 batting average in addition to being the team leader in runs and stolen bases. Mitchell is just the fifth player in program history to lead the team in batting average in consecutive seasons. She hit .308 during the MVC Tournament with two runs scored to help Bradley to its first NCAA Tournament appearance.
