Classroom

Lavender maintains just under a 3.0 GPA in Ohio State’s sport and leisure studies program.

Character

A role model on the floor and in the community and classroom, Lavender always complies with media requests and always has a smile on her face when talking to others. She’s a leader on and off the floor and takes both praise and criticism with an open mind.

Community

Lavender has been involved with several community-outreach projects, including visiting hospitals, speaking to elementary-school children about staying in school and facing adversity in life, assisting at the Mid-Ohio Food Bank with teammates and helping conduct a basketball clinic for Girl Scouts. She also signs all autographs and takes pictures with fans after games.

Competition

As a junior, Lavender was one of just three players in Division I to average at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and shoot at least 50 percent from the field. For her stellar season, Lavender received her third Big Ten Player of the Year award, second first-team All-American honor from the WBCA and USBWA and first-team All-American honors from the Associated Press. Lavender started her career as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and she’s a three-time first-team All-Big Ten honoree. Lavender enters her senior season on the preseason Wooden, Wade and Naismith Trophy watch lists and her streak of 102 games scoring in double figures is the longest active streak in the country. She’s on pace to become Ohio State’s all-time leading scorer and she already has the school’s top two single-season rebounding totals (374 and 372).
