Classroom

A three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll Selection and a member of the All-ACC Academic Baseball Team, Gould boasts a 3.254 GPA as a psychology major while also pursuing a certificate in markets and management studies. He has held at least a 3.00 GPA every year he has been at Duke.

Character

Gould has emerged as one of the key leaders of the Duke baseball team. He has shown time and time again his willingness to do whatever is necessary to help the team. He has played in the outfield, at first base, as a designated hitter and has even pitched during his tenure at Duke. Additionally, he is a solid representative of the team in the classroom with a 3.254 GPA and in the community where he and his teammates have undertaken numerous community service projects every year.

Community

Gould has been a key part of a Duke baseball program that is heavily involved in the Durham community. Each year, the team undertakes numerous community service projects, including volunteering at the Miracle League of the Triangle, the Duke Children’s Hospital, Habitat for Humanity and the Martin Luther King Jr. “Million Meals” Event, among other outings. This year, Gould and his fellow seniors organized a trip to the Duke Children’s Hospital where they visited with children in the Intensive Care Unit. Gould has also spent time showing orphans from the Oxford Housing Authority around at Duke football games and volunteering at the Urban Ministries Soup Kitchen.

Competition

An All-ACC Second Team choice in 2009, Gould is Duke’s top returning hitter with a career .337 batting average, 85 RBI and a .474 slugging percentage. He has been just as good against ACC pitching, hitting .327 for his career against conference teams. Last year, Gould hit a career-high seven home runs, all of which came against ACC teams. As a junior, Gould logged a team-best hitting streak of 21 games after opening the season with a 20-game tear that began during his sophomore season. Gould has started 132 games in his career at Duke, including all 59 games as a junior. Gould will switch to first base this year after playing in the outfield during his first three years at Duke. Gould has hit at least .340 in each of the last two seasons and last year led Duke with 82 hits, 25 multi-hit games and 20 doubles.
