Joey Hunt has earned Academic All-Big 12 honors each of the last two years. He received a 2014 TCU Scholar-Athlete Award from the National Football Foundation’s Gridiron Club of Dallas.

Character

Hunt was a team captain in all 13 games of TCU’s 2014 Big 12 Championship season. He has been selected by Head Coach Gary Patterson to represent TCU at Big 12 Media Day each of the last two years.

Community

Hunt is involved with the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America. He visits kids at Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth and also made a hospital visit at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta. Additionally, he has been a speaker at his junior high school in his hometown of El Campo, Texas, to talk about the value of education and going to college. He is the first person called upon among TCU football student-athletes to assist with a community project or volunteerism activity.

Competition

Joey Hunt received All-Big 12 recognition from the conference coaches and media in 2014. He was a major part in TCU’s Big 12 Championship season and helped fuel a Horned Frogs offense that finished second in the nation in scoring (46.5 points per game) and tied for fifth in total offense (533.0 yards per game). TCU set single-season school records for points (604), passing yards (4,240), total yards (6,929), first downs (331) and plays (1,038). Hunt has started all 25 games the last two seasons and appears on 2015 watch lists for the Rimington Trophy, Outland Trophy, Rotary Lombardi Award and Wuerffel Trophy. He is also on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team.
