Character

Peterson is a team captain for SCSU in 2017-18. He was hampered by lower body injury for much of 2016-17 season, but he played through pain and still ranked third on the team with 11 goals scored. Offseason rehab has him back in top shape for 2017-18 season, and he was selected as a team captain by his teammates and coaches due to his leadership abilities on and off the ice.

Community

Peterson is active with a variety of campus and community activities. He has been a regular participant in SCSU hockey’s annual Skate with the Huskies community outreach event, youth hockey clinics and league sign-up dates, and he has been a regular participant in SCSU’s Husky Haulers move-in day program, which helps incoming students move into their residence halls.

Competition

A four-year standout for the Huskies on offense, Peterson has helped lead the team to a current No. 2 national ranking in 2017-18 (Oct. 23). In 116 career games played, Peterson has scored 31 goals, 21 assists and 52 points at SCSU. He already has five assists in five games played this season. He scored 11 goals, six assists and 17 points in 36 games as a junior, and he had 16 goals scored during his sophomore season and four goals as a freshman. He scored a hat trick in a win against in-state rival Minnesota in 2016-17. He also helped the team to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2015 and 2016, and the Huskies have charted 72 victories during Peterson’s tenure on campus.
