Justin Herbert

Justin Herbert is the reigning Google Cloud Academic All-America Team Member of the Year. He is a two-time Academic All-America First Team honoree and two-time Pac-12 All-Academic First Team choice (2017, 2018). He holds a 4.01 cumulative GPA. He also worked as a TA in the biology department his sophomore year.

Character

Herbert was a team captain in four games as a junior (head coach chooses captains on game-by-game basis) and a team captain for the 2019 season opener against Auburn.

Community

Herbert was a part of the O Heroes Courts for Kids service trip to Uganda in 2018. He has been involved in several events, hosting local school children at football practice as well as Jr. Ducks Football Camp. He hosted a reward lunch at a local elementary school for children who achieved certain goals. He has also appeared at many other community service programs with elementary schools during the last three years, including field days, youth sports awards and Special Olympics events.

Competition

As of nomination time, Herbert has a current streak of 31 consecutive games played with a passing TD, which leads the nation. He also owns a streak of 150 straight passes without an INT, which also leads the nation. Herbert has led Oregon to 38.8 points per game over his 31 career starts. He is second among active FBS players with 74 passing TDs and sixth in passing yards (7,938). Herbert was a semifinalist for the Davey O’Brien Award and Maxwell Award as a junior in 2018. He became the fifth player in program history to throw for 3,000 yards in a season.

In 2018, he earned Phil Steele Pac-12 All-Conference First Team and Coaches Pac-12 All-Conference honorable mention honors. In 2017, he earned a spot on PFF’s All-Pac-12 First Team.
