Classroom

Malou is a first-generation college graduate from Kedougou, Senegal. He earned his sport communication degree a semester early, carrying a 3.14 GPA. Throughout his undergraduate career, he was namd to the President’s List once, Dean’s List twice, and Clemson’s Honor Roll three times. Malou is also a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll recipient.

During the 2019 CLEMMY’S, Malou was the male recipient of the Academic Achievement Award.

He is currently pursuing a second undergraduate degree in sociology.

Character

Malou is an established and well-respected leader for Clemson. During the 2020 season, he served as a captain in one match.

He is also involved off the field. Malou has traveled throughout the country, representing Clemson student-athletes. He served as a participant at the 2020 Black Student-Athlete Summit in Austin, Texas.

During the Summer of 2020, Malou was a leading figure within his team and amongst other Clemson student-athletes in the fight against racial inequality.

Community

Malou has diligently served the Clemson community since arriving. During the Spring 2020 semester, he served as a mentor to a local elementary school.

Throughout both his sophomore and junior years, Malou was a regular volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. He helped Clemson Athletics construct a home for a local family.

During the Summer of 2019, Malou traveled to Senegal to participate in an international service trip to help build a school with other Clemson student-athletes.

He also serves as the lead group member of Tigers Around the Globe, an organization that supports Clemson’s international student-athletes.

Competition

In his four seasons with the Tigers, Malou has started in 52 of his 62 appearances. During his career, he has contributed defensively to 24 shutouts.

During the 2020 fall season, he received two National Team of the Week honors after playing 961 minutes and scoring one game-winning goal.

Helping Clemson earn its 15th ACC Championship this past season, Malou was named to the 2020 ACC All-Tournament Team. It was the second time in his career that he received the honor.

Malou was selected by the Columbus Crew SC with the 27th pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft.
