Juwan Morgan captured a 3.10 GPA last semester and is on track to graduate with a major in sports communication.

Character

Morgan is a leader who comes from a military family. He is very disciplined and expects a great deal from his teammates. Morgan is the most respected person in the locker room for his work ethic and the way he represents himself on and off the court. When things got tough the last two years, he was the first one to be vocal about what he needed to do and how he would do it. He was the most improved player in the Big Ten, and his numbers made a lasting impression with everyone in the program.

Community

Morgan is the first to volunteer for any outside activity that the program might have, which includes reading to grade-school kids, visiting medical facilities and interacting with fans of all ages. He routinely will stay 30 minutes after a game and sign autographs or take pictures with fans. Morgan does so because he remembers attending games at Missouri and Kansas and being that kid standing around waiting for the players to come out of the locker room.

Competition

Morgan is a preseason member of the All-Big Ten team and is on the Karl Malone Award Watch list. He was a second-team All-Big Ten performer and a second-team All NABC and USBWA District choice. Last year, he averaged 17.9 points and 7.6 rebounds and improved his scoring output by 10.6 points in one season in Big Ten play. He scored a career-high of 34 points and set a Crossroads Classic record with that mark in leading IU to a win over nationally ranked Notre Dame. He was named NCAA Player of the Week for his efforts. Overall Morgan averaged 16.5 points and 7.4 rebounds.
