Classroom

Oakes maintains a 3.79 GPA as a nursing major and spends numerous hours a week at the local hospital putting in clinical hours while balancing classes, practices and games as well. She has been named a Big Sky Conference All-Academic honoree all three years of her career and was named an Academic All-America in her sophomore season.

Character

Oakes is currently a captain on this year’s squad and was also a captain in her junior season. She is constantly looked to as a leader on the court.

Community

Oakes regularly joins her team in community service projects. She and her teammates volunteered at a Juvenile Diabetes Camp and Oakes has been involved with other community service projects such as the annual Trunk or Treat event at Idaho State.

Competition

Last season, Oakes helped lead Idaho State to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007. Oakes averaged 11.3 points per game, 2.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game. She shot 38 percent from the field, 32.8 from the 3-point line and 76.8 from the free throw line. Oakes was first on the team in total points (362) and led the Big Sky in 3-point percentage shooting at 41.3 percent from beyond the arc. Oakes was selected Big Sky All- Conference First Team as well as to the Big Sky All-Tournament team. She was named team MVP and selected Big Sky player of the week on January 9th, College Sports Madness player of the week on December 5th, and to the Air Force Classic All-Tournament team. As a sophomore, she was named all-conference honorable mention and was selected tournament MVP at the UTEP Thanksgiving Tournament.
