Character

Transferring from Central Michigan, Markgraf made an immediate impact for the Utes. His willingness to be a leader for the program has been key in his development as a person.

Markgraf is the first to volunteer for anything, whether serving in the community or helping a teammate. He was the first to register for the ‘InXUtes’ and ‘Ute Academy’ programs at Utah, which were put in place for student-athlete development to ensure that they have a future after football.

He has also been integral in getting Utah Football’s #BuildingU campaign off the ground, nearly completing every requirement to develop his brand on and off the field.

Community

Markgraf’s heart is as strong as his snap on the field. Since arriving at Utah, he has been involved with multiple organizations in the Salt Lake Valley.

He has volunteered at local elementary schools visiting the students, teaching clinics, and reading to classes. Markgraf has participated in Utah’s annual Trunk or Treat and has also been a mentor to the youth. He consistently makes appearances where he speaks about leadership and the importance of getting involved in athletics.

Competition

During Matt Gay’s record breaking year, Markgraf started all 14 games as the short snapper. He was also the long snapper for Mitch Wishnowsky in 2018, who earned All-America status and was a Ray Gay Award finalist.

In 2018, Markgraf started all 14 games at both long and short snapper, finishing the season with 119 snaps.

He was named a 2020 All-Pac 12 selection as a snapper, compiling 33 total snaps with zero blocked kicks or punts.
